1. Year end Tax Breaks: Simply close before December 31st and any property tax and mortgage interest you pay are tax-deductible for that year. This can significantly impact the amount you owe Uncle Sam, or possibly increase your refund.
2. Less Competition: since everyone typically is purchasing their home from May to August as per the National Association of REALTORS. You will less likely have much competition when homes come on the market.
3. Eager Sellers: Seller will be become more motivated as their home stays on market longer. This could allow you some more negotiating room.
4. Lower Moving Costs: If you are planning on hiring a moving company, normally in the fall and winter they tend to be less busy, which means you could possibly enjoy a more flexible schedule and lower costs
5. Quicker Transactions: Sellers who are motivated, Title Companies are not as busy, could help reduce teh time it takes to close.
