5 Decor Designs Which Can Hurt Sales

For people who expect to put their home on the market, a number of latest designs may best be avoided to eliminate turning off buyers. Realtor.com® recently highlighted a handful of, including:

5 Decor Designs Which Can Hurt sales

5 Decor Designs Which Can Hurt sales

1. Wallpaper

Bold wallpaper with bright colors and geometric shapes can be a growing trend lately, especially in smaller bathrooms. “It’s better to not overdo it with bold, bright patterns, even though these may be in style for now, particularly for wallpaper,” says Jamie Williams, founder of Studio JW in Brooklyn, N.Y. “When selling, you want to highlight your home’s positives, and inspire potential home buyers to use their imagination to envision themselves in your home.”

2. Bold-patterned tiles

Tiles that boast intricate, colorful designs have become trendy in kitchens and bathrooms, however they could possibly be divisive. “The pattern may be on-trend, but will become outdated soon and turn buyers off,” says Williams.

3. An excessive amount of white

White is usually a neutral color, but an excessive amount of it will make a home feel cold. “If your home’s architecture and interior is ultramodern, you want to make sure it doesn’t come off as too cold or uninviting,” Williams told realtor.com®. “The sleek, European, monochromatic palette is fashionable, but can lack conveying a warmth and coziness that a home buyer wants to feel when looking for their next home.”

4. Brass and copper overload

Copper, brass, rose gold, along with warm metals are surging in popularity lately. Designers recommend all those who intend to sell soon, however, avoid choosing one of these trendy metals for their bathroom or kitchen fixtures. Instead, they recommend choosing more neutral metals like stainless steel, chrome, or nickel for fixtures.

5. Too loud a statement door

A door in a vibrant color may very well boost curb appeal. Nevertheless the wrong color may very well be too attention-getting in the wrong way. Statement doors in teals, yellows, bright blues, and oranges are actually popular recently. However these colors could possibly be too bold for the mainstream. Dawn D. Totty, an interior designer in Chattanooga, Tenn., says buyers’ favorites usually are black or red doors.
