Bayshore Boulevard – South Tampa
Bayshore Boulevard is a street in South Tampa that runs from just north of MacDill Air Force Base to downtown Tampa and is located directly on the Hillsborough Bay. Its popular sidewalk, at 4.5 miles long and 10 feet wide, is said to be the world’s longest continuous sidewalk. Walkers, roller-bladders, and runners often use it for their daily workouts, as well as others who like to simply enjoy a leisurely stroll along the scenic waterfront. There’s also a 3-mile bike path that runs nearby.
Along the trail are water fountains, benches, a marina, and fitness stations. It’s the perfect place to get in your daily dose of exercise or relaxation.
The historic neighborhood is just minutes from excellent public and private schools as well as shops, medical care, and fabulous restaurants including Colonnade Restaurant, which is one of Tampa’s oldest and most-cherished fresh seafood restaurants.
The neighborhood is convenient to Tampa International Airport and the Gulf beaches. It’s also just a short walk from Ballast Point Park, a waterfront venue offering a 600-foot fishing pier, picnic areas, playground, and a café. There’s also the city-owned gym known as the Joe Abraham’s Fitness Center onsite, which offers fitness rooms with equipment and a gymnasium at a very reasonable cost.
The boulevard is lined with many of Tampa’s stateliest and most historic homes, as well as several townhouses and high-rise condominium complexes. Many of them offer stunning views of the open water and downtown Tampa. Recent home prices range from less than $200,000 for condominiums to well into the millions for estate-sized homes.
