Top 5 Reasons to Move to Tampa

Most of you know Cindy and I were both on Active Duty with the US Army, so you can imagine how many times we moved before coming to Tampa in 1998. Sadly, even after being here we still had a couple of moves left in our future. But the most important thing we wanted to do was set down some roots and Tampa seemed to be like a good place for us.

Top 5 Reasons to Move to Tampa

Cindy is originally from West Palm Beach and Nick from Chicopee Massachusetts. We went to Massachusetts one time several years ago and it must have been around Halloween time.

That was enough for Cindy, she said never coming back up here when it is cold. So when we found out we were coming to Tampa for Nick to be a ROTC Instructor at the University of South Florida.

We decided that we would see what Tampa was like and ultimately decided to purchase our home and make Tampa our home!

So with that said, lets talk about the Top 5 Reasons to move to Tampa Florida.

We kind of touched on that one already. The Wonderful Weather! We do get a few cold days, but it is nothing like up north. A lite jacket and shorts can still be worn in December.

And some can affirm this since you worked with Nick and know he loves wearing his shorts all year round.

The school systems here in Tampa are ranked 8th in the US. So we know many people will disagree or have something to say about this one.

Having our cousin just stay with us while she was attending University of South Florida for her last semester, going for her Bachelor’s degree in education. We developed a stronger sense of what is entailed in pursuing a career in Education.

She would get up at 6am and be out the door at 6:30am to tackle the traffic to Plant High School. So in summary, we know this  is a touchy subject.

Tampa sometimes is called a melting pot of so many different cultures. We have had the distinct pleasure of working with so many different people and discovered so much about  other cultures. It truly is amazing.

Now when we were on Active Duty, we traveled and went to other countries, but it usually was not that same type of environment.

There is always some event to attend and learn about other countries and their cultures.

The Tampa area has something for everyone with regards to housing. We have South Tampa, Hyde Park, which is located a short distance to the Down Town area which makes it super convenient for the commute to work.

Want to live in the “Burbs?” Tampa is like no other place we have ever been. The surrounding areas of Hillsborough County are huge!

Ready for the farm? Yep, we have that here too. A fact that many people are not aware of is, Florida supplies more beef than any other state is the US. I would say we could not do that with out some farms.

Lastly, but probably Nick’s favorite thing about Tampa. The casual lifestyle.  After 20 years of wearing a uniform every day, we had to adjust and discover what our style was.

And fortunately for Nick, we were in Florida. And he adapted the casual lifestyle without any issues.

So in closing, hopefully we have given some things to consider when you are thinking about moving to Florida.
