Every home eventually requires maintenance. Some of that maintenance won’t have to set you back a small fortune if you should keep some basic tools around the house. Below are some helpful tools you can keep on hand.

Screwdrivers
Ensure you have both flathead and Phillips-head screwdrivers of assorted sizes. An entire set is better yet, allowing you to do everything from tightening loose fixtures to assembling furniture. For light projects, you can actually select a single, multi-bit screwdriver that stores detachable heads in the handle and doubles as a nut driver.

Hammer
A good hammer is definitely an absolute staple for everything from hanging photos to repairing fence pickets. A typical size weighs 16 ounces. Consider purchasing a good hammer with a claw head as well as an anti-vibration rubber grip.

Utility knife
A trusty utility knife or box cutter can come in handy, particularly if you’re just moving into your home and have to unpack those well-taped-up boxes. And as long as we’re on the subject of knives, you will want a putty knife. You’ll be shocked how frequently you’ll reach for it.

Wall level

In addition they come in handy when you are working on repairs in those darker and tighter spaces. Try to find hybrid versions, designed to use solar power and have a back-up battery. In the event your new place has electricity upon move-in, you can also invest in a rechargeable work light.

Wrench and pliers
Get started with an adjustable wrench that can handle a variety of jobs. Six-, eight- or 10-inch long wrenches are the most popular. Pliers are likewise indispensable; try to get ones with serrated jaws that grip objects firmly.

Toolbox
Store your most commonly used tools in a single place, such as an easy-to-carry toolbox, and you will always know where to find these tools whenever you need them.
