ATTOM Data Solutions analyzed the U.S. cities where more than one in each and every 12 buyers is searching for a second-home, and it ranked them based on air quality, comfortable summer temperatures, low crime, appreciating home values and reasonable home prices.
Among the top 100 U.S. cities listed as “top summer home vacation markets,” 43 metro areas (43%) are found in Florida. The state also had five metro areas in the top 10, 10 in the top 20, and 27 in the top 50 for second-home purchases.
Overall, the leading bargain markets for second-home purchases were found in four states: Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina and Maryland. Crossville, Tenn., led the list of metro areas, succeeded by Waynesville, N.C., and, in the third spot, Florida’s Port Charlotte.
