4 Components of Motivation You Need to Succeed

July 13, 2017 by Nick & Cindy Davis

A great deal of people pursue goals in business or in life only to realize themselves not making progress and losing their drive. Consider all the broken New Years Resolutions people make each and every year. Can you explain that? Your objective could very well be fine, however you may not have a good enough reason to do it now. Which can be, you might lack real motivation.

4 Components of Motivation You Need to Succeed

4 Components of Motivation You Need to Succeed

Real motivation has four key components to it:

1. Deep inside you

Your true motivation must live in a very deep aspect of you. It’s something that could be always with you, and so personal and strong,it might bring you to tears. For the majority of parents, the answer will be often linked with your children. For many people, it’s something associated with their mortality. For others, it is more about wanting significantly better life than what they grew up with. Looking to feel pride in themselves on a daily basis, as opposed to shame or sadness, drives others.

2. Enduring

True motivation must endure. It should never be something connected with an exact event that is going to pass. How does one stay motivated by an issue that stops? This may not be in regards to a specific event I would like to be fit for, like a high school reunion, or something I wish to have the ability to have the ability to buy such as a new car.

3. Profound

If it isn’t obvious yet, your motivators will need to be big, powerful things in your life. They should never be frivolous or petty. Surviving, inspiring your children, being there to provide for your family, having an influence on the market or society, being there to appreciate life with your family — these are big, powerful, profound things.

4. Non-material

Some individuals are motivated by money and possessing things. You may say I’ve certainly worked hard and been driven to achieve success professionally, and by extension financially. But the main problem with material motivators is that they’re outside of you and may come and go. They are often big or expensive, however that doesn’t ensure they are profound. They lack that deep connection to your inner self, and instead focus you on the outside world to issues that are fleeting.

Which isn’t to say that aspiring to become the CEO of a company is necessarily material. That depends on the why — your reason. Are you wanting the role because CEOs are likely to be well paid, or do you want it given that you desire to be a leader with great responsibility and the capacity to grab opportunity and transform an organization? Should it be the latter, you are likely to decide to invest in yourself for your personal and professional growth. You’re going to work on inspiring others as a leader. You’ll work on growing your business savvy and acumen to discover and seize opportunities, creating rewards and jobs for others.

Take into consideration what drives you, and whether or not it fits these four pillars of successful motivation. If not, probe deeper within yourself, ask the challenging questions and challenge your answers. The instant you unlock your true motivation, you unlock the true secret to achievement.
