Pelican Island Community

Pelican Island is a gated, deed restricted community of 87 homes in Tampa, Florida. It is a peninsular shaped neighborhood protruding into Old Tampa Bay with a single entrance which is located on the northeast corner of the community and a cul-de-sac on the west end. It was developed by prominent Tampa developer Julian Lifsey in 1979. There are 55 waterfront homes and 32 interior homes.

The northwest and west sides face the Pam Callahan Nature Preserve, a 150 acre nature preserve surrounded by natural mangroves. Boats have direct access to Tampa Bay, which is just west from the tip of Pelican Island. The wide variety of construction styles in Pelican Island make it very unique and attractive in appearance.

Home values range from approximately $500,000 – $2,000,000. It has an active home owner’s association and properties are well maintained.

It is approximately five minutes from Tampa International Airport and is only a short distance from several of the most beautiful white beaches in the Gulf of Mexico: St. Petersburg / Clearwater, Fort DeSoto, and Anna Maria Island. In addition to having Rocky Point Golf Course across the street, one of Hillsborough County’s 18 hole public golf courses, the community is located just half a mile away from Skyway Park, which contains 4 baseball / softball fields, 2 football / soccer fields, tennis courts, a children’s playground, and a picnic area.
